Environmental Policy at Seymour Toyota

Toyota Environmental Dealership

Seymour Toyota is the first Rural Victorian dealership to achieve Toyota’s 5 star rating in the Toyota Environmental Dealership Program.

In August 2012, Seymour Toyota completed installation of LED lights throughout our Showroom.  This investment is estimated to save enough electricity costs to pay for itself in 5 years.

Seymour Toyota has also developed an Eco Drive guide with 10 tips for reducing fuel consumption and therefore emissions.  This is handed to all new and pre-owned vehicle buyers upon delivery of their vehicle.

We have a Mobile Muster recycling box in our service lounge.  Here customers can dispose of their unwanted mobile phones for recycling.

We take part in National Tree Day by distributing equipment and clothing to a local school - in 2012 that school was Broadford Primary.

We recently installed 3 water purification systems at Seymour Toyota.  This is where ordinary tap water is purified and distributed through water stations.  These replaced our water coolers that were bottled after production.

Seymour Toyota is also focused on recycling, we have 3 recycling bins that were implemented at the start of 2012 along with paper recycling bins in all administration areas.  The organic waste is used in our staffs gardens.

Committed to the Environment

Seymour Toyota and Toyota Australia are committed to the highest standard of environmental management and governance.

Toyota has an environmental management system certified to the international standard ISO 14001. Environmental strategy is set by the Environmental Committee.

Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Seymour Toyota and Toyota Australia look for opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Toyota uses natural gas and electricity at its production site at Altona and at non production sites around Australia. The company monitors and reports on its energy use and greenhouse, continually looking for improvement opportunities.

Resource Usage

Seymour Toyota and Toyota Australia will continue to focus on reducing waste and making the best use of resources. These include raw materials used in the vehicle manufacturing process, and water and paper used across the company. Wastes include both production and non production general waste, prescribed waste and packaging waste.

Contributing to a Low Carbon Society

Toyota Australia will develop lower emissions vehicles and work with Governments to develop appropriate standards and measures regarding vehicle emissions and pollutants.

In 2011 a Carbon Working Group was established to understand and manage the impacts of the clean energy future legislation and develop a model to ensure the financial implications of the carbon prices are considered in strategic and operational planning.
